Processing today’s harvest

So many things have grown and flowered. Now the payoff moment…harvest. I am so blessed by the abundance of vegetables and herbs that my garden is putting forth. These cucumbers were all turned into Spicy Dill Pickles today.

DSCN6656The beets have been sitting the the ground, yesterday I noticed that they were super crowded so they joined the pickling party as well.

DSCN6651After a day of pickling…I have 12 pint jars for the pantry

DSCN6671The Italian Pole Beans are also beginning to bean

DSCN6652They are green inside…and turn green when you cook them. We have not cooked any yet…we have been just eating them straight off the plant.

DSCN6653Plenty of zucchini…Let me know if you would like some.

DSCN6660The Evening Sun Sunflowers are starting to bloom

No one told the Sugar Baby Pumpkins that it is only July :-)….guess we are going to have lots of pie

DSCN6686Baby Watermelon…so cute

DSCN6687The San Marzano tomato that thinks it is taking over the entire left wing of the garden

DSCN6676The hubs has finally admitted that he did not think it was going to be so wonderful. He even built me a new shelf for all the food we are putting up in jars.

Last week we received 40 pounds of Santa Rosa Plums from local Sonoma trees. I made Spiced Plum Butter, Plum Jam and Plum Chutney.

Making a place for the tomatoes that I am gearing up for in the next week or so.

Happy Canning Days…

DSCN6673Dear Gramma… I dug into one of the potato towers…here is what we found…? Isn’t there supposed to be potatoes right there?
